Pelvic Floor Therapy Isn’t Just for Postpartum Moms

You don’t need a recent baby—or any baby at all—to benefit from pelvic floor therapy.
That idea, though? That pelvic floor therapy is only for postpartum women? It’s still everywhere. A lot of people think if you’re not leaking after birth, there’s nothing to address. Or that pelvic PT is just about Kegels and getting your core back.
But pelvic floor therapy supports so much more than postpartum recovery.
We see women in their 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond who are navigating symptoms that have nothing to do with childbirth—and everything to do with how their body is adapting, compensating, or quietly asking for help.
So what is pelvic floor therapy, really?
It’s a whole-body approach to how your pelvic floor is working—or not working—within the bigger system of your body.
The pelvic floor isn’t just about peeing or pushing. It’s about pressure, posture, support, digestion, hormones, pleasure, breathing, and movement.
And when something’s off, it doesn’t always show up as a dramatic issue. Sometimes it’s subtle.
You’re tired after workouts in a way that feels off. Sex feels less comfortable, or just different. You feel pressure in your pelvis by the end of the day. You’re not leaking, but your digestion is sluggish and your core feels disconnected.Your periods have changed, and so has your body’s response to stress.
All of that can have pelvic floor involvement. And all of that is valid.
The truth is: pelvic health is a lifespan issue.
At Webb PT, we treat women in all seasons of life—not just postpartum.
We work with:
Teachers, nurses, and anyone on their feet all day who feel heaviness or pressure after work
Weekend athletes or former athletes navigating chronic hip or low back pain
Women on birth control who notice vaginal dryness or discomfort and don’t feel like themselves
People in perimenopause who feel new pressure, leaking, or sensation changes
Women with IBS or constipation, who’ve developed compensation patterns over time
Women who’ve never had kids and were told their pain or symptoms are “normal”
We’re here to tell you: these symptoms are common, but that doesn’t make them normal. You don’t have to wait until you’re postpartum—or worse, “broken”—to get help.
What does therapy look like?
Pelvic floor therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all. Your care is shaped around you—your goals, your symptoms, your life.
Some people need support releasing tension. Others need to rebuild strength. Most need a combination of both, along with body awareness, breathwork, alignment tweaks, and better pressure management.
And here’s the thing we care about most: you feel heard.
We’ll talk through your full history—including things that feel small or totally unrelated—because they matter. And we’ll help you understand how your pelvic floor fits into your overall health so you can move forward with confidence.
Ready to feel like yourself again?
We’re based in Lawrence, KS and specialize in pelvic health care that’s natural, whole-body, and supportive—not scary or awkward.
Whether you’re dealing with symptoms or just want to understand your body better, you don’t have to wait for a “reason” to schedule. We’re here to listen—and help.
